The first three walked under, careless in their passage, the last more cautious, 20 yards behind the rest, hand resting on the hilt of his sword, eyes scanning the darkness of the woods.

the stop in the woods was well worth it my love.. even if it did delay our arrival ... now.. shall I get the fire going, and set that brace of partridges to the spit?

The last blow rang throughout the workshop as Wayland, finally satisfied, drew the blade through the air.  Replacing his hammer on the forge he turns the would be sword, looking along it, checking the lay and sweep of the blade.  Satisfied he collects his armourers tools and crosses the forge to the workbench. Laying the blade on a sheepskin he slides on the hilt and carefully fits the wooden handle.
